Bright, dark and harsh; a story filled with people from whom you’d want to avert your eyes. Yet, it’s close to reality; so maybe it’s true to humanity.
Like an old bond between a boy and a girl, a friendship is born between girls who rarely speak to each other.
A man who dirties his hands for money, and the girlfriend who waits for him to come home.

The story takes place in Japan, right now, where the Coronavirus has completely changed our way of life. In the house of a young man, his childhood friend who lost his job due to the Coronavirus moves in. However, this childhood friend is a scumbag...
The story depicts the depressing feeling of not knowing how long the coronavirus will last, and the rotten relationship between the two young men.

Deeply inspired by his half-asleep words of encouragement, Meiko hastily leaves her old life behind, looking to begin anew, with Taneda soon following suit. As the two stand confidently alongside their old friends with instruments in hand, life throws the most unexpected curveball their way, leaving Meiko and her friends to pick up the pieces of what was shattered.
Solanin tells an intimate story about the trials and tribulations of love, loss, and grief centered around people in their twenties who often slip between the cracks of society.

But this is only the beginning of the complex, challenging, obliquely told Nijigahara Holograph, which takes place in two separate timeliness and involves the suicidal Suzuki; Higure, his stalker-ish would-be girlfriend; their teacher Miss Sakaki, whose heavily bandaged face remains a mystery; and many more―brothers, sisters, parents, co-workers, teachers, aggressors and victims who are all inextricably linked to one another and all will eventually―ten years later―have to live with what they've done or suffered through.

Being his first series, What a Wonderful World remains Asano's most representative and successful work to date. Composed of vignettes from the daily lives of a group of people inhabiting an ordinary neighborhood somewhere in Tokyo, the series is actually a comment about modern life itself and how we can survive in it despite all its rigors.
Amusing, melancholic, funny, strange, thought-provoking, Asano effortlessly shifts from one mood to another, creating stories and characters that are profoundly human and thus always involving. It's a shame that not everyone will find the subjects the author describes equally appealing since some of them are distinctly Japanese. But overall, it's a great collection that any discerning manga reader should check out.

Three years ago, they came. The arrival of the "Invaders" sparked the greatest war humanity had ever faced—one that threatened to end the world. The Japanese government scrambled to fight the Invaders. Weapons were mass-produced, sparking controversy and pacifist movements.
That day, everything changed. And yet, nothing has changed. Koyama Kadode and Nakagawa Ouran live their final days like they always have: going to school, playing with friends, and doing what any carefree high school girls would do.
As they grow up they come to learn what it truly means to be an adult, in a world where adults seem to be demons who only deceive and destroy. They come to learn the real threat to humanity is not the Invaders, but humanity itself.
